Title: FRUIT-GROWING IN UKRAINE AND POLAND – SELECTED ASPECTS
Abstract. Various aspects of fruit production in Poland and in Ukraine, such as species and cultivars, area of production, cropping level, fruit consumption and export-import activities were analysed. The area of apple, pear and plum orchards in Ukraine is bigger than in Poland. In spite of large area of cultivation, production of apples in this country is about half of that in Poland. It results from a low productivity of apple orchards in Ukraine. Significant difference in fruit consumption per capita in the two countries was noticed. An inhabitant of Ukraine consumes less apples, peaches, nectarines and strawberries in comparison with Polish consumer. With some exceptions, Polish fruit import and export are larger than that of Ukraine.
